We started out 180 years ago as the first polytechnic in London and one of the first in the UK, established to educate the working people of London. Today we continue to build on this reputation, helping students from a variety of backgrounds to realise their full potential.
Our university has a long and proud history of global engagement, international collaboration and educating international students. That history derives from the global nature of our student, colleague and alumni communities; our international research, academic and student mobility partnerships; the global reach and impact of our research and knowledge exchange activities; and the unique and transformative opportunities for global learning we offer our students.
The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) is a national scheme run by the Office for Students that recognises providers for high quality teaching and student outcomes. The TEF assesses and rates universities and colleges for excellence above a set of minimum requirements for quality and standards. The University of Westminster has been rated Silver in the latest TEF 2023. This means that our standard of delivery in these areas and overall has been judged to be typically Very High Quality.
